Its amazing how much time, effort and money people are putting into creating social, professional networking sites. Success of orkut, linked in have no doubt proved beyond doubt that such sites do offer a lot to their subscribers. One such new professional networking sites that a friend of my friend has been involved in development is visiblepath (www.visiblepath.com). This is slightly different in that it is more of an enterprise tool, and uses complex algorithms to identify the strengths of relationship between people. The idea is to harness this information for better sales leads. If I understand it right, the tool analyzes the strengths of relationships between 2 people by analyzing the amount of interaction between them. So, if I wanted to get introduced to a potential client, I would just search in my enterprise for that person, and the results displayed would tell me which of my colleagues has the strongest relationship with him. Sounds cool, ain’t it?
