Gonna blog for tonna money?
Sorry about the clutter with ads on this site. I just wanted to get a first hand taste of internet marketing, and the scale by which one can benefit from it. To clarify: I don’t intend to make a living out of any revenue from the ads. ( But it sure doesn’t hurt if I get some loose change that will help sustain this site, rt 
). And BTW, people have indeed made money thru blogs - Check out ProBlogger. Or read Money Blogger that takes you thru a person’s experiment in this field. In this age where the motto is ‘You do your best, Google will do the rest’ (I hope you don’t take this as blasphemy - i just wanted to highlight the prominence of Google in the internet era), it looks like anything can sell on the net, huh.So you want to know how much I earned? Hold your breath: iiiit eeeees a whooooole 92 cents from the last 6 months !!
I have 2 choices now:
1) if I were out to earn money thru this blog, I would need to a) start writing better, b) start writing regularly c) register my blog at bizillion blog search directories, d) read others’ blogs and put trackbacks or whatever (and 100 other things that ProBlogger suggests), and Google will do their part of selling the right ads.
OR
2) Forget the money, just keep writing.
I think #2 is easier since I hate hard work, and I don’t break a sweat writing the kind of stuff I write. #2 is what I set out to do, and I will keep doing until I get bored of this stuff.
But I will let the ads run for couple more months (will take it out by June end, to be precise). The ads do make the site ‘look’ very popular :). Hey, try clicking those - They are fun. If you strain your ears, you may just hear the clanking of coins falling into my piggy bank!
Sorry if I discouraged some of you who may be looking at blogging as a revenue channel. Don’t lose heart. Take this site as a case study for things you SHOULD NOT do if you want to make money. May Google Bless you!
Just for the records: I put up Google Adsense, and Adbrite as ad services. I am using a hosted wordpress blogging platform.
